Division Safety Officer is the person designated to manage the division’s safety program. This role focuses on the day-to-day safety needs of the division—identifying hazards, enforcing procedures, conducting safety briefings and inspections, ensuring proper PPE, and tracking corrective actions. They act as the point of contact for safety within the division and coordinate with the Division Officer and other leaders to keep the work environment safe. While everyone shares responsibility for safety and the Commanding Officer holds overall command responsibility, the division-level safety program is specifically led by the Division Safety Officer. The other roles either serve broader command-level functions (the Commanding Officer or Master Chief) or are individual sailors without a formal division-level safety lead.
